The President of Kosciuszko Heritage, Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek, has travelled to Jindabyne ahead of preparations for next year’s Kosciuszko Festival.

During her trip, she met with Bob Young, the president of the Jindabyne Aero Club, which has donated several flights for the festival.

Kosciuszko Heritage at the Polish Christmas Picnic

Kosciuszko Heritage has been represented at the annual Polish Christmas Festival in Darling Harbour.

The Festival’s Master of Ceremonies, Dariusz Paczyński (a committee member of Kosciuszko Heritage), announced the formation of Kosciuszko Heritage. On its behalf, he also invited everyone to next year’s Kosciuszko Festival, which will take place on April 14 and 15, 2012, in Jindabyne.

Committee member awarded Gold Cross of Merit

Committee member Urszula Lang has been awarded the Gold Cross of Merit from the Polish Government.

Urszula was presented with the Gold Cross during the annual November Independence Day Celebration at the Polish Club in Ashfield

In addition to being a Kosciuszko Heritage committee member, Urszula is the Artistic Director of the Lajkonik Folkloric Ensemble I co-organiser of the annual Kosciuszko Festivals.

Strzelecki film screening

The film Symbol of Freedom and Honour: Sir Paul Edmund de Strzelecki has officially been launched.

Directed and edited by Oskar Kantor (of Oski Pictures), the film premiered on October 28, at the Ashfield Polish Club in Sydney.

Lech Paszkowski becomes patron of Kosciuszko Heritage

The writer, historian and journalist Lech Paszkowski has agreed to serve as the patron of Kosciuszko Heritage.

A highly regarded member of the Polish community of Australia, Lech is the author of many works about migrant life in Australia and famous Polish individuals, such as Tadeusz Kosciuszko (after whom Mount Kosciuszko is named) and Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki (the explorer who named Mount Kosciuszko).

Organisation re-named

The Puls Polonii Cultural Foundation has become Kosciuszko Heritage Inc.

The decision to change the name was made at the Foundation’s Annual General Meeting, held in Pennant Hills on August 20, 2011. At the meeting, Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek was re-elected President of the organisation.
