Committee member Felix Molski has been interviewed by the Irish filmmaker Russ Ryan.
Russ contacted Kosciuszko Heritage at the end of June to find out more about Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki, whose life-story had captivated him. He was particularly intrigued by Strzelecki’s humanitarian activities during the Great Famine in Ireland, including in the filmmaker’s home town of Ballina.

The former patron of Kosciuszko Heritage, Lech Paszkowski (1919 – 2013), has been remembered in tributes as a great writer and member of the Polish community in Australia.

The Patron of Kosciuszko Heritage, Lech Paszkowski, passed away yesterday. Lech was officially appointed Patron in October 2011.
He was an esteemed member of the Polish community in Australia. A writer, historian, community worker and journalist, he was the author of many highly regarded works about migrant life in Australia and famous Polish individuals.…

Kosciuszko Heritage has been awarded a Medal of Recognition.
The honour was given by the Polish Community Council of Australia and was presented by its Vice-President, Leszek Wikarjusz, on the first day of Dream Lights, this year’s Kosciuszko Festival.
In its citation justifying the award, the Polish Community Council of Australia acknowledged Kosciuszko Heritage for its “dissemination of knowledge about Poland and its outstanding sons, Thaddeus Kosciuszko and Paul Edmund Strzelecki, promoting their humanitarian ideals, and for many other initiatives that reinforce the arguments for maintaining the Polish name of Mt Kosciuszko”.
The annual Kosciuszko Festivals have ended on a high note, with the seventh festival drawing together a range of cultures for two days of historic events in the Snowy Mountains.
Dream Lights, the final Kosciuszko festival organised by Kosciuszko Heritage, held from February 23 to 24, celebrated the best of Aboriginal, Australian, Irish and Polish cultures.
