Laurie Seaman was a well-travelled American, newly married to an Australian, and the two had become friends.

Both were members of the Millions Club, an ambitious push to reach one million people in Sydney, underscoring Australia’s place in a changing world. On the day they embarked on their snowy adventure, neither knew just how unpredictable the mountain could be. The story of how they disappeared on Australia’s highest mountain is set at a crucial point in time, between two world wars, when everything was changing.
