Activities relating to Kosciuszko Heritage have been noted in the report made by the President of the Polish Community Council of Australia, Leszek Wikarjusz.
The President presented the report at the Council’s annual convention, held in Brisbane on May 28 and 29, 2016.
The first activity related to the Marshal of the Polish Senate’s competition for the award and title of ‘Guardian of the Heritage of the [Polish] Republic’ in August, 2015.
“The Presidium [of the Polish Community Council of Australia] proposed that E. Skurjat-Kozek should nominate the organisation Kosciuszko Heritage for the award,” said Leszek Wikarjusz. “The proposal was accepted and the Vice-President of the Council, Małgorzata Kwiatkowska, conducted an intensive promotional campaign for the application while in Poland. Despite the points awarded the application by Senator A. Person (with each application requiring the support of one of the senators), the jury decided that the title of ‘Guardian of the Heritage of the Republic’ in the category of the ‘Mieczyslaw Gebarowicz Foreign Award’ (worth 5,000 Euros) was presented to Alicja Maria Klimaszewska, the chairwoman of the Social Committee for the Care of Old Rasos, for “long-term activities for the preservation and maintenance of the Polish heritage in Lithuania.” Congratulations!”
The second activity related to promotional activities conducted in Poland on behalf of Kosciuszko Heritage in March, 2016.
“During a private visit to Poland, the Vice-President of the Council, Małgorzata Kwiatkowska, promoted the achievements of Kosciuszko Heritage, handing the President of the Association Polish Community a film about Kosciuszko and a letter promoting the movie,” said Wikariusz. “The film and letters were also submitted to the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda (through his Secretariat) and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Piotr Glinski (via post).”
Kosciuszko Heritage was represented at the convention by Ernestyna Skrujat-Kozek (its president), and Andrzej Kozek (a committee member).
