An icon in Polish and American history will feature in the forthcoming film Kosciuszko: Poland Will Yet Dance.
Jean Lapierre, the aide and valet to General Tadeusz Kosciuszko, makes an appearance twice in the film, which will be released next month.
Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek, the film’s director, notes that Lapierre was not the first famous black individual immortalised in Polish history. The first was Wladyslaw Franciszek Jablonowski, who gained fame after his defence of Saska Kepa from Suvorov’s troops during the Kosciuszko Insurrection.
