The director of Kosciuszko Heritage, Dr Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek, has had an article published in the Teacher’s Voice quarterly in the United States.
Entitled ‘Kosciuszko is my Compatriot’, the article discusses Tadeusz Kosciuszko and the Kosciuszko Festivals in Australia (organised by Kosciuszko Heritage).
Ernestyna writes:
“We strive to present Kosciuszko in Australia not so much as a Polish patriot but as a man who represented the most important moral values of humanity, who had black friends and who, in an era of slavery, left his fortune to liberate African-Americans. If fate had brought Kosciuszko to Australia, he would certainly have been a patron and protector of Aborigines.”
The Teacher’s Voice quarterly is published in Chicago.
