The writer, historian and journalist Lech Paszkowski has agreed to serve as the patron of Kosciuszko Heritage.
A highly regarded member of the Polish community of Australia, Lech is the author of many works about migrant life in Australia and famous Polish individuals, such as Tadeusz Kosciuszko (after whom Mount Kosciuszko is named) and Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki (the explorer who named Mount Kosciuszko).
His books include Social Background of Sir Paul Strzelecki and Joseph Conrad (1980), Poles in Australia and Oceania 1790-1940 (1987) and Sir Paul Edmund de Strzelecki: Reflections on his Life (1997). He has also written over 400 articles published in international Polish media outlets.
The President of Kosciuszko Heritage, Dr Ernestyna Skurjat-Kozek, has appointed Paszkowski as the patron of the organisation due to his expertise.
“We are sailing into wider waters and embracing the whole of Australia. Hence, we wish to benefit from the good advice and suggestions of individuals who are recognised authorities in matters relating to Kosciuszko and Strzelecki,” said Dr Skurjat-Kozek.
