W ślad za wywiadami i raportami Andrzeja Kozka, szefa australijskiej wyprawy do Polski wypada dodać kilka opinii Australijczyków. Na początek (znaleziona na FB) krótka relacja Melanie Horsnell. Melanie jest znaną piosenkarką folkową, która na kilka tygodni zostawiła własną karierę na boku, aby towarzyszyć aborygeńskim chórzystom jako akompaniatorka. Zdobyła tam sobie opinię Mamuśki, która uwielbia mieć podopiecznych. A że jest silna i wysoka, to można powiedzieć, “że się żadnej pracy nie boi”. Szczególnie chętnie pomagała polskiemu kamerzyście w noszeniu i podłączaniu sprzętu do filmowania. Była w ekipie pierwszą osobą, która szybko i sprawnie zaczęła się uczyć polskiego.
Final photo collection from Poland, I’m finally home properly and so tired and a bit crook so gonna collapse for a bit, but here are the images of the expedition to Poland. There were several presentations in each city – Krakow, Poznan (including Gluszyna) and Warsaw, and the focus was on the Monero-Ngarigo connection and cultural exchange with Polish people, and learning on Kosciuszko and Strzelecki.
At each presentation Uncle John Dixon and Auntie Iris White would speak on their Monero-Ngarigo heritage and connection to country, their history and history of colonisation on that country, and description of culture, then Andrzej of Kosciuszko Heritage would further the Monero-Ngarigo Connection and talk about the mountain and Mound Kosciuszko, their history of learning about each other, some Australian history of colonisation, and positive Polish/Monero-Ngarigo connection, and after the Djinama Yilaga choir would talk about reclaiming language, currently of Dhurga and Ngarigo in future, and share some culture in song.
(And I’d play guitar and harmonise). And then between presentations there would be meetings with Professors, Mayors, Vice-Presidents and Ambassadors to communicate the message of cultural connection and learn about Kosciusko and Polish history. Amazing all round. It was a great gift to be invited along.
